We’re delighted to kick off Art of the Mating of 2022 with a chat with Tom Wilson. Tom applies sports analytics to produce unique insights into where the value might lie in the horse racing industry. He writes a frequent blog which takes on topics such as what trainer to send your horse to and which sires are underrated by the market. Tom will be sharing his screen as we take a deep dive into his work and learn how to make informed value based decisions in horse racing using data.

If you’d like to come along, we’ll be sharing our Zoom link with our mailing list below. We’ll doing a series of chats over the next few weeks to start off 2022 so if you’ve any suggestions for topics please let us know.

National Hunt Mare Syndicate: Lady Breffni

We’re delighted to launch our first mare syndicate with an elite National Hunt mare, Lady Breffni. Lady Breffni won the I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle Series Final (Grade 2) at the Fairyhouse Festival this year alongside a track record of multiple stakes performances over obstacles. You can relive her performance at Fairyhouse here. She is by one of Ireland’s leading National Hunt stallions in Yeats. Yeats mares are in huge demand with Shattered Love making €260,000 and Tintangle made €190,000 just this year. You can view Lady Breffni’s pedigree here.

She was purchased for €58,000 (excluding VAT and sale house commission). We felt this represented exceptional value compared to other elite National Hunt mares sold in 2021. Grade 2 winner Salsaretta made €135,000, Listed winner Buildmeupbuttercup made €165,000 and Grade 2 winner Magic of Light made €185,000. She will be bred to Fifty Stars in 2021, the Group 1 winning son of Sea The Stars half brother to Whiskey Sour managed by Syndicates.Racing.

Our goal will be to sell her progeny each year as a foal. Over time, the syndicate may also choose to retain some fillies out of her to race to continue the journey.

This will be an intimate syndicate with 10 shares of 10% available. Each share will be €8,000. Syndicates.Racing will charge 5% for Lady Breffni’s purchase and 5% on each sale. The syndicate will be operated at cost thereafter as a one-off to test our first mare syndicate. In the event required, keep will be charged at cost at a quarterly basis to syndicate members however the intention is to operate a balance to avoid this hence the €8,000 share to allow for an initial balance. A dividend will be paid after each foal sale subject to an amount retained to cover costs.

We believe this is a unique chance to own a share in a young elite National Hunt mare that was deemed by many exceptional value in the market. If you would like to request a share, please fill in the form below.
