New Syndicate: Sharp Object (John McConnell)

We think our new National Hunt mare Sharp Object was the best value filly sold at a point-to-point sale this year.

That’s a big statement so let us breakdown why you should take a share in our first horse with hugely progressive John McConnell. Shrewd John has even taken a share in this mare and you’ll soon understand why…

When we buy any horse we have a simple rule. We only buy a horse if we would be comfortable at the price to own all of the horse ourselves. We take the first share in every horse we buy as a result. We win, if our owners win. By syndicating horses, we can use our eye for value like it’s only our money but share the fun  with our over 1,000 owners worldwide. Sharp Object is in every essence a Syndicates.Racing value play.

I’ll be honest, I think some point-to-point sales are crazy. People spend €500k plus on a gelding. It’s just not us and I don’t care if we had Bill Gates approach us to buy him a Cheltenham Festival winner - we’ll be buying Bill value, not over hyped horses. That’s just our DNA. We buy sharp value like Sharp Object, not shiny objects.

However, lurking behind the flashy headlines there is a really strong value play at Irish point-to-points. Point-to-point handlers buy these horses to trade them - every horse, in every yard is always for sale. If they win their point-to-point they know they could get hundreds of thousands for their horse. However, what happens when they run an exceptional eye catching race but they don’t quite cross the finish line in front? Huge value emerges.

Tattersalls point-to-point track is one of the premier point-to-point circuits in Ireland. It takes a very good horse to perform there. Our new purchase went off favourite for a hot mares four year old maiden. We spoke to her trainer Patrick Turley before buying her and he has her in the same class as a €235,000 horse he sold earlier this year. However, things didn’t go to plan - she was green on her first start and found herself being detached as they turned for home here in the yellow colours.

All of a sudden then, she engaged turbo drive and started to learn she was a racehorse. From a hugely unfavourable position turning in she ended up a fast finishing second to the beautifully bred Tareze. She was very much horse to take out of the race.

Don’t just listen to us, here’s what P2P.ie had to say…

From that performance, we knew she had an engine but she backs it up with a cracking pedigree. She’s by Diamond Boy, the sire of hugely exciting Impaire Et Passe. Her dam is a half sister to Galway Plate and Cheltenham Festival winning Finger OnThePulse and she is by Oscar, the same broodmare sire as Hewick. Her residual value would be huge if she could do a Grangee or Cabaret Queen and win blacktype on the track.

We analysed over 200 National Hunt mares this point-to-point season and she’s the only one who met our exacting criteria for value at £42,000. At this price tag, you can access a National Hunt mare with a proven engine, a lovely page and by a sire producing the good already on the track, like Impaire Et Passe.

We love to see where posh buyers might turn up their nose over stupid things and we saw another angle with Sharp Object. As a foal she fell and has scars on her knees. These are cold to touch and only a cosmetic imperfection (she was sold with a certificate from a vet saying she’s ready to race to remove any doubt). It’s like being able to buy a Ferrari for 70% off because it has a scratch. We like engines to win races, not focusing on irrelevant details that distract poorly advised buyers. It’s part of our mission for value for our owners that’s in our DNA by going that extra mile in research.

Exceptional value secured. The plan is straightforward. Win a bumper this year. We’re pretty good at that. As a syndicate, we’ve never lost a bumper first time out.

However, beyond a bumper there’s so much to look forward to with her proven ability over an obstacle already. This is a mare who could be competing in mares graded races for years to come.

John McConnell trained a Cheltenham Festival winner in 2023. We’d love to see this lady competing to add to his record. International owners will also love John, he’s not afraid of putting his horses on the boat and taking on anyone. We think we’ve found the filly to go to war with and the proof is in every second on the video of that debut performance.

If you love National Hunt racing. If you’d love a short cut to competing on the bigs day. If you believe that if given the goods John McConnell can train proper horses for the proper days. This is the mare for you.

We’ve had dozens of owners ask for a point-to-point graduate for years so this is a mare we’re hugely exciting for to fulfil that goal. It won’t be our last but as the first she will be hugely popular to our owners.

As always, our fees our inclusive of everything from our months of research and effort to find her to the training, transport and care of John’s team to bring her to peak performance at the racecourse. We don’t do hidden extras and never will. We also won’t hide how excited we are to have bought her and for our new owners who grab a piece.

Accessing proven point to point talent doesn’t have to cost the world when your with the right team and her prices reflect that:

  • 10% equity share is €7,975 all in until 1 January 2024, then €850 a quarter.

  • 5% equity share is €4,075 all in until 1 January 2024, then €450 a quarter.

While many will want to take large chunks in this mare given her residual prospects. We’re about expanding our sport so if you’d like to take a smaller share (even 1%), just let Aimee know by hitting the button below. As always, it’s first come first served until she sells out.

Grangee made €120,000 when finishing her racing days for us (also the small matter of over €100,000 in prize money too).

What could this mare be worth if she is indeed the best value filly sold at a point-to-point sale this year?

We think she might just be and if you want in you’ll need to click this button and buy a share before another filly sells out like they’ve done relentlessly all this year.

Join our new syndicate with Joseph O'Brien - Gleneagles ex. Spinning Queen

We’re accomplishing a number of firsts with our new syndicate of a Gleneagles filly out of Spinning Queen to be trained by Joseph O’Brien…

We gave our priority list members first opportunity to buy shares and we now have only 25% left. These general release shares will not last long so let us tell you why you should buy a piece in this regally bred lady with one of the world’s best trainers.

Her dam, Spinning Queen, won a Group 1 beating Soviet Song, Red Evie and Alexander Goldrun.

She won by nine lengths.

Yes, you read that right.

Spinning Queen didn’t win a bumper by nine lengths. She won the Sun Chariot (Group 1) at Newmarket beating two Tinnakill homebreds Alexander Goldrun and Red Evie (we were quite annoyed at the time as they were first and second favourites) in the process.

She’s also definitely our first horse whose dam has a Wikipedia page. Take a look here (it’s pretty leghenty).

At the end of her racing career when she sold at Tattersalls, she sold for a European record being the first filly to break the £3,000,000 barrier and now today, you’ve a chance to race her daughter with one of the world’s leading trainers, Joseph O’Brien.

Spinning Queen is now part of the broodmare band at Tinnakill and it’s a privilege to be able to race her Gleneagles daughter. A level of pedigree we’ve never offered before.

Our loyal syndicate members will know how much we think Gleneagles is underrated. We’ve already got Absolutely Buzzing (Gleneagles) in training with Joseph and Queen Meadbh (Gleneagles) with Gavin Cromwell was a great success last year - so much so, a certain lover of Gleneagles reached out to buy her - Joseph O’Brien…

This special syndicate is hopefully another gem from Tinnakill. We’ve already leased and raced winners such Cabaret Queen, Mise Le Meas, Fast Tara and New Emerald Bay from Tinnakill.

By leasing we can access pedigrees we simply can’t afford at the sales and that recipe is a proven one - with the exception of National Hunt Grade 1 winning Cabaret Queen (so hopefully you’ll allow the exception) all the above fillies won their flat maiden and have been rated 90 or above (not bad for a family run farm in Laois).

We’ve let this lady mature as a late foal so that’s why we’re only syndicating now. She’s arriving with Stevie Byrne next week (who also pre-trained Absolutely Buzzing) and then after a period with him she will arrive with Joseph for an autumn introductory campaign.

As Spinning Queen won her Group 1 as an ever improving three year old we’ve decided to make this a two season lease (syndicate ends at the conclusion of the Irish flat turf season in 2024) to allow you watch her blossom from an introduction as a two year old to a very fun three year old campaign.

An all-inclusive 5% lease share is €3,250 with larger and smaller shares available on request by emailing below. Access to €3,000,000 price tags has never been more affordable than this opportunity. Click the below button to email Aimee now and be part of the journey.
