The objective of Syndicates.Racing (the “Club”) is to expand racehorse ownership to the next generation at a price everyone can afford.
The following are the terms and conditions pertaining to
the 2019 grey filly by Free Eagle ex Thewandaofu by Clodovil which was bred by
Valerie Osborne at Tipper House Stud, Naas.
This syndication is unique in that it blends racing and GAA in an unprecedented way. The filly will be trained by Kildare GAA legend Willie McCreery and the syndication will raise funds for Kildare GAA at an exciting time in its history, under new senior team management.
Syndicates.Racing confers on unit holders a pro-rata share in certain benefits, associated with the Club’s horse in training. The benefits of membership are:
an input to the naming of the filly – suggestions will be taken from all members of the syndicate and the best or most appropriate five will be put to a ballot among the syndicate membership. Remember, the name cannot have more than 18 letters and must be in good taste. Many names are reserved or already in use so it is difficult to be confident that any name will be available. However the name is important and an opportunity to support Kildare!
an opportunity to race your horse in our colours (all white, black cap, red star!) together;
information on our horse, through the “Racing Manager” app and trips to the races and trainer to see the filly;
hospitality events linked to a race meeting or trainer stable visit will also be offered to members at commercial rates negotiated on a best value-for-money basis;
free entry to the racecourse and access to the parade ring on a best efforts basis depending on attendees. Where more unit holders than tickets are attending the meeting, a draw will take place whereby each unit will have be put in a draw thereby ensuring those with a bigger investment will have a greater chance of attending while also allowing minority unit holders the chance to attend. We hope this will be limited in its impact to unit holders as we’ll work hard to persuade racecourses where we can however there may be times it cannot be avoided;
a pro-rata unit share in 100% of any net prize money won by the Club’s horse and proceeds from the sale of the horse to be allocated 33% to Club Kildare, 34% to the shareholders and 33% to the original breeders of the filly
all trophies will be distributed by each unit representing one token in a draw.
Prize money, if any, will be distributed once a year;
The sum allocated to unit holder will be the net total paid to the Club by Horse Racing Ireland minus race-day expenses related to entry/supplementary fees and trainer, jockey fee and groom expense;
There can never be any guarantee of any future level of prize money given the vagaries of horse racing (just say your prayers please).
Each unit corresponds to 1% of the horse. The maximum numbers of units will not exceed 100. The maximum numbers of units per person will not exceed 10 without permission. There must be a named person who is wholly in control of the 1% share, with any subdivision of that 1% share being a matter for the individual on the Syndicates.Racing shareholder list.
Each horse will not be insured and shall run at our own risk unless otherwise informed.
Each horse which runs outside the country of the trainer in foreign travel is at the complete expense of the syndicate.
The shares are priced at €290 per unit which will cover all livery and training expenses, routine veterinary and farriery, normal raceday expenses in Ireland, Syndicates.Racing expenses including access to the Racing Manager app for shareholders, and HRI registration fees and charges until December 15th 2022.
The filly will be offered for sale at a recognized thoroughbred auction conducted by Goffs with the Sales proceed distributed as above, net of Sales company fees and charges.
Members must be aged 18 or over. Any person banned or warned off by any racing authority may not become a member of “the Club”.
Please note as you are a registered owner of this horse you may not use the inside information you possess to take advantage of adverse performance of the horse. You can of course back the horse to win or place when you deem appropriate from the information you possess.
Members of the Club will be expected to behave in a respectful manner on visits and activity days. Any member in breach of this may be removed from the Club, at the discretion of the syndicate manager.
Membership is primarily a personal entertainment. It is not an investment opportunity.
All decisions relating to the horse, trainer, administration, and general management, shall be vested in Willie McCreery, John Osborne and Jack Cantillon (in consultation with the members).The biggest decision would relate to a possible private sale which will only be entertained if it would be in excess of €60,000, bearing in mind the short duration of the lease.
The core objectives of this syndication are fundraising for Club Kildare, a linkage between Kildare sporting people in our two biggest sports – GAA and Horse racing, the social aspect of visits by appointment to Willie McCreery’s yard on the Curragh and hopefully a day or two at the races.
You agree to adhere to these conditions (as amended) by virtue of your payment for your unit(s).
Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) requires your personal details for client identity verification, subsequent client management and communications from HRI. This consent is required to facilitate your registration as an owner with HRI. Please visit hri.ie for Privacy Notice.
In the event of winding up the club, all payments to Horse Racing Ireland, the horse’s trainer and any other expenses will take priority over the distribution of funds to unit holders.
Syndicates.Racing reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time subject to notice.
By paying your monthly or yearly fees you expressly agree to these terms and conditions.
The terms outlined in the page of the horse at the time of entry into the Club are expressly incorporated.
please mail Jack (Jack@Syndicates.Racing) and he’d be happy to chat through. Our promise to you is to provide the best experience your horse is able to provide to the best of our abilities.
