When you’re having a bet it’s always important to read the form first so that’s what I’ve decided to do and look back on 2022 for Syndicates.Racing (and also give you a sneak peak of the future). Our mission is to expand horse racing to as many people as possible by providing a proven, great value syndicate that can get you to the biggest days in racing.

This year, thankfully, that mission has resonated worldwide more than ever before. We’ve crossed the threshold this year of over 1,000 owners brought into the sport. We’ve now raced horses in Ireland, England, France, USA and hopefully very soon Australia. Our website attracts about 40,000 visitors each year (our most popular day is Sunday when John writes the Sunday Syndicates Post each week). We’re very proud of some of the highlights we’ve had this year:

  • Grangee running third at the Cheltenham Festival in the Mares’ Novice Chase.

  • Queen Meadbh winning her barrier trial, running a great race in second in a maiden and being sold for 10x her purchase price after three months.

  • Homebred State of Rest winning Royal Ascot’s first million pound race and winning four Group 1’s in total.

  • Cabaret Queen having her first foal by Cokoriko less than 12 months after being the first mare home in the Grand National.

  • Nos Na Gaoithe hacking up in her maiden hurdle and progressing to a Racing Post rating of 129.

  • Two runners at Royal Ascot in Golden Mayflower and Mise Le Meas from a single digit team of flat horses.

  • Syndicate trips to the Curragh, Naas and behind the scenes at Goffs in addition to hundreds of tickets allocated to our owners on racedays (we’re proud of our record of almost always getting owners tickets for everyone).

  • Freedom Falls running fourth in the €300,000 Tattersalls Super Sales Stakes

  • Fast Tara shaping with immense promise ahead of next season for Johnny Murtagh.

  • Tranquil Lady and New York City both recording stakes successes for our farm, Tinnakill House.

  • Far Above backing up his first book of 142 mares with 117 mares in his second season.

  • Fifty Stars chalking up over 80 mares in first season

Class of 2023

Our team for 2023, I think, is our strongest ever but time will tell when the 2023 review hits the website. Here’s one line on each of them (those with links still have shares available and there’s none I wouldn’t recommend). We strive to give the best possible value and if they haven’t already horses usually sell out by Christmas as our owners buy their presents for loved ones.

Gleneagles ex Brown Bee (Joseph O’Brien)

Sold out remarkably quickly, she’s part of our commercial syndicate so the plan will be to try sell her if she can perform well in an Irish maiden.

Zoustar ex. Social Media (Amy Murphy) - Shares Available Here

The best value Zoustar sold at auction in Europe, hopefully she can win another £20k GB Bonus just like Golden Mayflower did with Amy first time out.

New Bay ex. Need You Now (Kevin Philippart de Foy) - Shares Available Here

New Bay has doubled in price to €75,000 and this filly is eligible for the Goffs Million, a very exciting mission for our first horse with Kevin (who took a leg himself!).

Masked Marvel ex. Cervaro (Gavin Cromwell) - Shares Available Here

We think Gavin is the most underrated trainer in Ireland still and this lady will be one for bumpers in spring 2023.

Westerner ex. Silver Pearl (Willie Mullins) - Shares Available Here

Called Ellen Kelly already, she’s a beautiful mare with a pedigree - my girlfriend Gráinne has taken a share for what it’s worth!

Walk in the Park ex. Parenna (Ross O’Sullivan) - Shares Available Here

Our most forward horse of the upcoming bumper team, excited to have our first horse with the talented Ross O’Sullivan by same sire as Facile Vega.

Milan ex. Lora Lady (Peter Fahey) - Shares Available Here

The best bred filly we bought at the store sales, has transformed since breaking could be very exciting as we aim for the Goffs Land Rover bumper at the Punchestown Festival

Grangee (Willie Mullins)

Sells at the Goffs December Sale after winning at graded races at both the Dublin Racing Festival and the Punchestown Festival, should be one of the stars of the show.

West End Victory (Willie Mullins)

Beautifully bred filly, has arrived in Closutton and excited to see what she can do for Willie.

Cabaret King (Willie Mullins)

Looks a picture and will be hopefully running in a bumper for Willie at Christmas.

Nos Na Gaoithe (Willie Mullins)

Ended with a blip after a fantastic season, think she can come into her own again when the good ground returns during the spring jumping festivals.

Mise Le Meas

In training in Del Mar in California and optimistic she can find a new lease of life.

Snowhaven (Jessie Harrington) - Shares Available Here

My dark horse for 2023, got a bad cut in only start at two I think she’s one to follow next year.

Fast Tara (Johnny Murtagh) - Shares Available Here

Highly promising in two starts, will be one for an early season maiden.

Freedom Falls (Jack Davison) - Shares Available Here

A syndicate favourite this year, must have every chance of winning a sprint maiden in early 2023 before going on to bigger and better things.

Lady Breffni

Our first breeding syndicate, she’s thriving at Tinnakill and will hopefully will have a Fifty Stars foal in early 2023.

Australian Colt Syndicate

A new experiment taking shares in five colts in Australia that was hugely popular, looking forward to our first runner.

Far Above

Standing at €5,000 in 2023, it wouldn’t surprise me if this was his busiest year on the strength of his foals. Want to send your mare? Just send a message at the bottom of the page.

Fifty Stars

Standing at €3,000 in 2023, I can’t wait to meet his first foals in the spring. You can reserve a nomination for 2023 here. Want to send your mare? Just send a message at the bottom of the page.

Looking ahead

You need to be constantly moving to get better, so here’s a sneak peak at what we’re going to do to grow the community in response to your feedback:

  • We are going to launch a Syndicates.Racing 100 Club where for €100 each year you get a €100 voucher to buy a share in a horse with us and a whole host of extra benefits (free bets, tickets, and merchandise). It’s just our way of rewarding our most loyal owners and also providing a new price point for people to get involved right away.

  • We are going to have more horses with a larger minimum %. We want to be able to invest in the value that we see at the sales and the best way to do that is fill our horses quicker so we can expand. We will still have 1% shares available for our existing owners but we want to expand our ability to invest where we see best.

  • We have enjoyed launching a breeding syndicate and where the opportunity arises we will be back in the market. We might even exploring pinhooking a foal or buying to go to the breeze up sales.

  • We are going to increase the interactivity of the syndicate with the return of Zooms, even more events and investing in as much content as possible.

  • As always, we’re going to listen constantly to you. This is our collective syndicate and we want you to help drive it on with us.

We’re lucky to have the best owners in the game and we can’t wait to see what 2023 brings. We’re here to make it as magic as possible so if you have any questions, want to take a share in a number of horses and looking for a deal or if you have ideas in how we can grow please send us a message below.
